March 10 San Pedro de Atacama, the Moon Valley

We are staying at the Explora Lodge, the top hotel of the San Pedro Oasis....Because this is what San Pedro is, an oasis in the Andes, surrounding by dry land....we are in the driest place on earth and it shows.

The morning walk was to expoe ourselves to the unique beauty of this part of the desert and to get acclimate to the altitude ( 8500 feet). We did enjoy the dune ride on the way back...
